Fred Zimmerman, 79, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his home. He was born October 20, 1937 in Natchez, MS to the late Harry and Mary Lou Zimmerman. He was a retired auditor for Western Union Telegraph, a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Poteau, a seasonal worker for the Four Rivers Cotton Gin in Jonesville, LA, and had served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John, M.C., Nolan, Bill, and Wallace Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife, Polly of the home; two sons, Keith Zimmerman and wife Brenda of Alma, and Tony Zimmerman and wife Sherry of Scottsboro, AL; a sister, Pat Rogers of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Van Buren United Pentecostal Church with interment to follow at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Wesley, Warren, Scooter, and Kaleb Zimmerman, and Charles and Josh Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaren Wilson, Paul Barton, Tucker Phillips, Shad Pyland, Marty Phillips, and Ronnie Wright.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, Arkansas.
